Safeguard, preserve and rehabilitate a part of the Forest of Ferney was the plan of the CIEL Group. Today this project propels this reserve of 200 hectares as a sanctuary of the biodiversity, guaranteeing the future of its endemic fauna and indigenous flora.
Ferney is also the natural habitat of the extremely rare Mauritius kestrel, one of the most famous rescuing examples in the world. The other endemic birds of the island, such as the Pink pigeon or the Echo Parakeet should be re-introduced in the years to come, as part of this ambitious conservation programme.
La Vallée de Ferney is above all an educative experience for both Mauritians and tourists; it is the key to knowledge for an efficient protection of the environment and for the respect and the good management of the various components of the biogenesis and the biotopes. |
